Marketing Outsourcing on the Rise

What marketing functions are you outsourcing?
The latest data from MarketingSherpa suggests that many companies are planning to outsource more of their marketing functions. Even with much of marketing’s capabilities remaining in-house, the advantages of outsourcing — for scale or capabilities — are starting to be noticed.
Public relations is the most heavily outsourced marketing function, with 31 percent of MarketingSherpa’s respondents saying they’re outsourcing it and another 9 percent planning to. Search engine optimization is also outsourced readily, with 29 percent of companies surveyed doing it now and another 16 percent making plans.
Social media appears to be the next area in which outsourcing is poised to grow — something we’re seeing with our clients already. While only 11 percent of MarketingSherpa’s respondents indicating that they currently outsource social media, 15 percent have plans to do so.
